Invenergy seeks to present 200-megawatt solar proposal to Muscatine County supervisors

Merlo Bartz, county outreach for Invenergy, told the Muscatine County Board of Supervisors on March 3 that the company is proposing a 200-megawatt solar project in the Atalissa area and would like to present details to the board.
“We're proposing a 200 megawatt solar project in the Atalissa area, Goshen Township,” Bartz said during public comment, and asked for either March 24 or March 31 as possible dates for a 20-minute formal presentation followed by questions and answers. Bartz said March 24 would be preferred but that the company would “work with the board” on timing.
Board members and staff discussed logistics for scheduling and public notice. The chair advised Invenergy to work with the auditor’s office (staff members identified as Kayla and Melissa in the record) to submit written materials in advance so the county can publish the agenda; the board estimated 30–40 people might attend such a presentation in chambers.
Bartz said he planned to meet later the same day with Dr. Brad Park of economic development and that Invenergy’s local project manager, Steve Morris, had already spoken with county staff. Bartz also asked for help identifying local contacts and expressed a desire to engage with the community ahead of a formal presentation.
No board action to schedule the presentation was recorded at the March 3 meeting; Bartz was asked to coordinate possible dates and provide materials in advance for agenda publication.
