Commission names David Gary director of Community Enrichment

The Butte‑Silver Bow Council of Commissioners on Jan. 22 unanimously agreed to concur with the chief executive’s nomination of David Gary as director of Community Enrichment.
Chief Executive Gallagher told the council that John Mudray retired Dec. 31 and that the county conducted an internal and external search, interviewing five candidates. Gallagher said David Gary was the preferred candidate based on experience, including time as the county’s land records manager and several years in the Montana Department of Environmental Quality.
Gary addressed the commission and thanked Gallagher and staff for the appointment. “I look forward to working with him and the other departments and the council and our citizens,” Gary said.
Commissioners praised Gary’s local background and public‑sector experience; the council recorded a 12‑0 vote to concur with communication number 2025‑40 and to place the appointment on file.
Gary’s hiring follows a recruitment process described by the chief executive; staff said the county sought applicants both inside and outside Butte and interviewed five finalists before recommending Gary.
