Florida House adopts concurrent resolution to receive governor's message; reconvenes in joint session at 11 a.m.

The Florida House adopted Senate Concurrent Resolution SCR 12 94 to consent to convene a joint session with the Senate to receive a message from the governor on Tuesday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m.

A written request from Governor Ron DeSantis asking to deliver the State of the State was read into the record. The communication, read by the clerk, said in part: "As governor of Florida, I respectfully request the opportunity to present the state of the state address to the joint session of the Florida legislature on Tuesday, March 4 at 11:00AM." The letter was signed "Ron DeSantis, governor."

Representative Garrison moved that the clerk read the senate message and moved adoption of SCR 12 94. The motion was approved by voice vote after the clerk announced a quorum. The clerk reported "117 members voting. A quorum is present, Mister Speaker." The resolution was recorded as adopted and House Concurrent Resolution HCR 12 89 was laid on the table.

Following adoption, Representative Garrison moved and the House approved a motion to adjourn for the purpose of receiving reports, holding committee and subcommittee meetings, and conducting other House business, with the body to reconvene for the joint session at 11:00 a.m. or upon the call of the Speaker. The House then stood adjourned pending the scheduled joint session.
