The Verona Planning Commission on March 3, 2025 approved a site plan allowing Epic Systems Corporation to construct a buried 750‑person lecture hall with an associated dining space at 1979 Milky Way as part of its Deep Space expansion.
Planning Department staff presented the proposal. Planning Department staff member Mr. Severson said, “The applicant is requesting approval of a site plan for 1 buried lecture room located at 1979 Milky Way,” and described the addition—referred to in presentation materials as the Deep Space expansion—as immediately west of the existing Deep Space learning campus. Staff said elevation drawings show the new structure built into the hill using existing contours, and recommended approval of the submitted site plan.
The motion to approve the site plan was made by Commissioner Touche and seconded by Commissioner Hancard. Commissioner Powers announced an abstention from the vote. With no further discussion, the motion passed with Powers recorded as abstaining.
Commissioners and staff did not raise outstanding conditions or require additional public comment during the meeting. The site plan approval authorizes the work shown on the submitted drawings; the record does not specify subsequent permit steps or timeline for construction.
