Monona committee approves $95,000 final design contract for library HVAC and signs onto three state traffic-safety grants

The City of Monona Finance and Personnel Committee on March 3 approved a $95,000 agreement with Bridal Engineering to produce final designs for a complete replacement of the library’s lower-level heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system and agreed to participate in three Wisconsin Bureau of Transportation Safety grant programs with reduced award amounts for 2025.

Committee members approved the HVAC design contract after a brief presentation and discussion of schedule. The committee was told the lower-level system will be completely redesigned and is slated for construction next year. "I am really happy to see that we're finally at this phase because we've been working on fixing this since I first became mayor," Mayor O'Connor said during the meeting.

The committee also approved participation in three state traffic-safety grants: the 2025 Capital Area OWI Task Force grant, the 2025 Dane Suburban Seat Belt Task Force grant, and the 2025 Speed Grant Task Force program.
