Realtor urges county to reconsider beer-board distance rule affecting southeast Bradley County site

At the commission’s public-comment period, Lisonbee Casey, an affiliate broker with Coldwell Banker Kennard Realty, urged commissioners to consider amending the county’s beer-board distance rule that restricts the sale of packaged beer near schools and certain other sensitive uses.
Casey told the commission she represents a property zoned C-2 at the corner of Lad Springs and Spring Place Road in southeast Bradley County and said the distance rule has reduced potential buyers’ interest. "We have lost one contract due to that beer board rule," Casey said, and she asked the commission to consider the benefits of changing the ordinance to allow more commercial opportunities in a growth area near state highways and the Georgia line.
Casey acknowledged that the beer-board amendment was on the table and said she understood commissioners could not discuss an item that had been formally tabled under rules of order. She asked the commission to consider future amendment or review to the distance requirement as growth continues in that part of the county. No commission action or response was recorded during the meeting.
