Greenwood council adopts building code conflict-of-interest rules, advances fee increases

The Greenwood Common Council on Monday unanimously adopted an ordinance creating conflict-of-interest procedures for city building code officials and advanced an ordinance to raise several municipal fees, council members said.

The council passed Ordinance No. 2506 on its second reading, 9-0, to add a building commissioner, a building code official and an inspector conflict-of-interest procedure to Greenwood Municipal Code Chapter 7, Article 1. Councilmember Gibson sponsored the ordinance; the measure passed on second reading after a motion by Councilmember Gibson and a second by Miss Katz. The council recorded the measure as passed by a 9-0 roll call.

The council also gave first reading approval to Ordinance No. 2508, a package of amendments to the Greenwood Municipal Code that would revise the city's official fee schedule and add or increase charges tied to obstruction of streets and sidewalks, false alarm fines and right-of-way excavation permits.
