The Greenwood Board of Zoning Appeals on Feb. 24 approved board minutes and granted three variances in unanimous votes, and directed the corporation counsel to prepare written findings of fact incorporating the staff reports.
The board voted 5-0 to approve the minutes from its Feb. 10 meeting. It then approved findings of fact and final action on three variance petitions after staff recommended each item and petitioners confirmed they wanted their written materials entered into the record.
Votes approved 5-0 included: a variance petition identified in the record as VCA 2024-055 filed by Joseph Latimer on behalf of Chick-fil-A for property at the northwest corner by 65 and East Main Street; BCA 2024-059 submitted with Chad Mays on behalf of Kimberly Horne & Associates for property at 5983 North State Road 135; and BCA 2024-060, a development standards variance for Denise and Bruce Fletcher for property at 562 Winding Trail. For each item the board moved to adopt the written findings of fact presented, incorporating evidence in the staff report.
For each approved petition the board made a separate motion directing corporation counsel to draft written findings of fact reflecting the board's decisions and to incorporate the staff report and submitted evidence as the record for consideration and adoption.
The board did not debate any of these items at length in the meeting record; staff indicated files and reports were in order and recommended approval in each case. All motions carried by voice/hand vote, recorded as 5-0.
Members of the board repeatedly stated that final legal action would be taken at a subsequent meeting once the corporation counsel files the written findings of fact, a standard step the board used to finalize formal decisions.
Ending: The board moved on after these routine items to consider other variances and new business on the agenda.
