Laura Gonzales, a crew leader with the Conservation Corps of Long Beach, said her River Ranger crew focuses on river restoration, beautification and keeping community paths usable and safe.
Gonzales told the meeting that her job includes organizing crews, spotting hazardous materials, and making sure restoration work meets standards so areas remain accessible for community use.
Gonzales listed training she has completed and training she plans to pursue. "Certification that I have so far is the S-212 chainsaw certified, the CPR certified. I have the California Naturalist," she said. She said she hopes to obtain an "OSHA 40-hour" course next and that her long-term goal after the service corps is to become a water operator.
