Summary
Head Start policy council presented a self‑assessment update, withdrawal and wait‑list changes, and budget figures including administrative costs and auditor results.
At the Feb. 25 meeting a Head Start policy council update outlined program service data, staffing and budget metrics for Pasco County’s Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
Policy council facilitator Sarah Longy reported 18 Head Start and four Early Head Start family withdrawals between December and January; Longy said the district’s wait list decreased by 15 children after those openings were filled. In January the program served 78 Head Start and 13 Early Head Start students identified as homeless, and 30 students in foster care; Longy said a percentage of enrolled students are diagnosed with disabilities (9% of Head Start and 24% of Early Head Start).
Financial and compliance details included that early childhood programs have met about 44% of the required non‑federal share for the fiscal year and that independent auditors reported no issues under government auditing standards. Longy also summarized ongoing self‑assessment work across program service areas and upcoming family engagement activities such as positive‑parenting workshops in April.
