Public Health staff provided a brief demonstration and notice about a new public portal that allows members of the public to search local food-inspection records and view inspection results. Staff said the portal is user-friendly and asked for feedback to improve navigation and the instruction page.
Separately, staff informed commissioners that a food-service establishment whose license had been pulled will appeal the enforcement decision to the Mason County Board of Health. Public Health clarified that the appeal is of the action previously taken by the health officer and that the Board of Health is the appropriate body to hear the case; the board meeting will include the appeal as an agenda item.
Public Health staff invited commissioners and members of the public to review the portal and provide feedback; staff also said the appeal process is proceeding according to the county’s established public-health appeal procedures.
