Dr. Peeley told the board that enrollment at Downers Grove South is up slightly while enrollment at Downers Grove North is down slightly. The district plans to expand the multi‑needs program at North by adding an additional classroom; officials said the change aims to allow some students placed out of district to return to their home schools. The board was told that about 85 percent of ninth graders at South now take seven academic courses, up from earlier years when many ninth graders had study hall time; that shift is affecting sectioning and course demand.
Administrators said the staffing recommendations will reflect those enrollment changes and program needs and will return for formal board action at the next meeting. No staffing actions were taken at this meeting.
