Village reports wastewater plant testing, water capacity and SR 762 speed‑limit change; industrial park work set for spring

On traffic safety, staff said the Ohio Department of Transportation adjusted the posted speed limit on State Route 762, east of Walker Road, to 35 mph at the corporation limit; flashing radar signage to display vehicle speed has been installed. Staff said the change is intended to reduce crashes and damage at a location that has seen vehicle strikes to houses, signs and a fire hydrant in recent years.
Village engineer Susan reported on pending development activity in the industrial park: a pre‑construction meeting is scheduled for the Lot 5 project (project Kevlar) and a separate pre‑construction meeting will be scheduled once performance bonds, inspection fees and a water‑tower maintenance fee are submitted for Lot 10. The engineer also said punch‑list work remains on internal industrial‑park streets and off‑site traffic signal work will be completed once warrants are met.
The zoning administrator noted a conditional‑use public hearing is scheduled for April 7 related to a Harsh Alley item (chicken keeping was discussed in general zoning conversation); the zoning administrator also summarized building permit activity (new builds, fences, pools) and two code violations in the period reported.
Police chief presented an employment recommendation for Officer Miller, reported completion of the officer’s checklist and Field Training Officer evaluations, and recommended the council confirm Miller as a permanent officer (see separate votes item). The chief also said the village has ordered a replacement for a wrecked patrol car and expects delivery in late spring due to vendor backlog.
No formal capital‑budget changes were approved in these updates; they were informational reports and scheduling updates intended to keep council and the public current on infrastructure capacity, safety measures and upcoming construction timelines.
