Parks commission recommends city council approve $533,990 construction contract for Allmendinger Park accessibility work

City staff asked the Parks Advisory Commission to recommend approval of a construction contract with E.T. Mackenzie Company to complete Allmendinger Park improvements; Madison Merzlikoff, the project manager, presented scope and procurement details.
Merzlikoff said the project will pave the park entrance and turnaround, install barrier‑free parking, renovate and add pathways to connect playgrounds, ballfields and courts, install accessible bleachers, add a picnic table and fence the playground area. She said the scope responds to the ADA transition plan and prior public input, and added that the city solicited six bids; E.T. Mackenzie ranked highest in the evaluation.
The recommended contract amount is $533,990; staff also proposed a 10% construction contingency (about $53,000). Merzlikoff told commissioners the city will request council authorization on March 17 and expects construction to begin in spring and continue into summer.
Commissioner Larry moved the resolution recommending contract award; Commissioner Alexa seconded. The commission voted to recommend council approval; the motion carried.
