Petition for sign variance at 2915 Boardwalk Drive postponed after applicant fails to appear
Summary
The ZBA tabled and then postponed consideration of a petitioner’s request to replace two nonconforming signs at 2915 Boardwalk Drive after the applicant did not appear. Staff said the proposed signs would be sited near the building top and that the applicant requested a variance; the board agreed to postpone to the March meeting.

A petition to allow replacement and installation of permanent wall signs at 2915 Boardwalk Drive was tabled and later postponed to the March ZBA meeting after the applicant did not appear in person or remotely.
City zoning coordinator John Barrett told the board the owner seeks a variance for signs on a building in the TC‑1 (Transit Corridor) district. Barrett’s presentation noted the property is approximately 14,650 square feet and the building is about 25 feet tall; staff materials alternately referenced a proposed sign top height of 29 feet but Barrett later confirmed the applicant intended to place the signs at 24 feet, above the 20‑foot band specified in Table 5.24‑3 for buildings under 45 feet.
Board member Dave DaVarty moved to table the petition until the end of the meeting in case the applicant arrived late; the board later decided to postpone the petition to the March meeting (March 26 was discussed) because no representative appeared. The board chair reminded members that the ZBA’s bylaws and customary practice require an owner, applicant, or representative to be present for a petition to be heard.
The board’s action leaves the petition pending; no vote on the merits was taken.
