City offers bulky-item curbside pickup; EDCO event set for late March

El Segundo Media said EDCO will host a bulky-item cleanup event from March 24 through March 27 that lets single-family and duplex residents place oversized items curbside on their regular collection day.
The announcement listed examples of acceptable items — including broken appliances, water heaters, furniture and mattresses — and said hazardous household waste and debris from contractors, landscapers or commercial businesses will not be accepted. Yard waste should be bundled; tree trimmings should be cut into 3-foot lengths and tied into bundles no greater than 18 inches in diameter.
The city noted that single-family homes and duplexes are eligible for up to four free bulky-item pickups each calendar year and that residents should call EDCO at least two days before their normal collection day to schedule a pickup at (310) 540-2977.
