The Homewood City Finance Committee on March 3, 2025, handled several procedural and agenda items, voting or registering actions on four matters that will appear before the council or be carried to future committee meetings.
The committee voted 3-0 to send a proposed amendment to a tax-incentive agreement for the Piggly Wiggly construction project (agenda item 14 11 24) out without recommendation pending a public hearing scheduled next Monday evening. Committee members said the change requires a new public hearing because the terms differ from the prior agreement. A motion to send the item out without recommendation passed 3-0.
The committee agreed to drop a request (item 04 02 20 5) to install a solar-powered speed sign on Robson Road after staff arranged to relocate existing signs from Wellington Road; the committee recorded a 3-0 vote to remove the item from the finance agenda.
An unsolicited proposal regarding the old police headquarters (item O60225) from Mike Ron will be carried over without objection to the committeemeeting on March 17; staff were asked to communicate the carryover to the involved parties.
The committee also voted 3-0 to add the Kenilworth stormwater project (item 02 02 25) back to the finance committee agenda so staff could keep the committee apprised until the project is complete; members said the item had been inadvertently removed when a change order was circulated.
All of the above procedural items were recorded by the committee during the March 3 meeting and will be reflected on upcoming committee or council agendas as described.
