The City Commission of West Palm Beach unanimously confirmed six mayoral reappointments to advisory boards and trusteeships during its March 3, 2025 meeting.
The appointments approved were: Laura R. Cole to the Nuisance Abatement Board (term to expire Feb. 28, 2027); Perry Douglas to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (term to expire April 10, 2027); Mary Ann Gross to the Nuisance Abatement Board (term to expire Feb. 28, 2027); Michael R. Odom to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (term to expire April 21, 2027); Terrence R. Rich to the Employees Defined Benefit Retirement System Board of Trustees (term to expire Feb. 12, 2028); and Denise Smith Barnes to the West Palm Beach Housing Authority (term to expire April 3, 2029).
The commission voted on each nomination individually. Each motion carried with no recorded opposition. The commission chair read the requirement that the City Commission confirm reappointments when nominees have served the maximum allowed number of terms (three), and commissioners moved and seconded the items in turn without additional debate.
Several commissioners offered brief remarks of thanks when appropriate. Commissioner Lambert thanked Terrence R. Rich for his visible service to the city during the vote on item 7.5. There were no requests for public comment and no substantive discussion of the nominees’ qualifications on the record.
The confirmations place the reappointed members on their respective bodies through the dates listed; the commission did not attach conditions or amendments to the approvals.
