Penn-Trafford board recognizes three students of the month

At its regular meeting, the Penn-Trafford School District recognized Peyton Malone (Harrison Park), Mackenzie Enrico (Penn Middle) and Brooklyn Harrison (Penn-Trafford High) as students of the month, and principals described each student's accomplishments and activities.
The Penn-Trafford School District Board of School Directors recognized three students of the month during its regular meeting, identifying achievements in academics, the arts and community service.
Dr. Harris opened the segment by calling student recognition “the best part of every meeting every month, because that's the students of the month.” Harrison Park Principal Mr. Morasti introduced Peyton Malone, a fifth grader described as “very upbeat, positive, and [a] fun person to be around,” whose teachers praised her artistic talent, intelligence and kindness. Morasti said Peyton “consistently solves complex problems with ease” and noted she enjoys art and science and “brightens the day with her laughter.”
Penn Middle School's student of the month, seventh grader Mackenzie Enrico, was presented by her principal. Enrico’s involvement in band, arts and volunteer activities drew praise; one teacher said, “Mackenzie is one of the best students I've ever had. Smart, hardworking, funny, and just an all around great person.” The principal noted Enrico’s inclination to help peers and her steady classroom effort.
At the high school, Brooklyn Harrison was recognized as the high school student of the month. The presenter noted Harrison’s 4.0 grade-point average, National Honor Society membership, extensive extracurricular resume (including lacrosse, ski racing and acapella) and leadership roles in Students Against Destructive Decisions and the Student Union Board. The presenter said Harrison “gives back countless hours through community service” and described her as “driven, kind, always smiling.”
Board members and school staff took a group photograph with the students and their families after the presentations. Dr. Harris said the district invites student-of-the-month honorees back for recognition at the first football game in September.
The recognitions were presented during the informational portion of the meeting and did not require board action.
