MERRILL, Wis. ' At its Feb. 19 meeting the Merrill Area School District Board approved multiple program, personnel and purchase items by voice vote, including Head Start assessments, new club advisor and coaching positions, a Fab Lab equipment purchase and donations to the Merrill School Forest.
Key approvals included:
- Head Start 2024-25 Community Assessment: Motion by Nubs Ashlag; second by Amber D'Rizzo. Motion carried by voice vote.
- MAPS Head Start 2025 Self-Assessment: Motion by Ron Liberty; second by Nubs Ashlag. Motion carried by voice vote.
- Addition of an Educators Rising club advisor (to hire in spring to support a fall club launch): Motion by Jacqueline Renmar; second by Ron Liberty. Motion carried by voice vote.
- Approval of SEL (social-emotional learning) coach positions recommended by the Finance/Human Resources Committee: Motion by Jacqueline Renmar; second by Amber Aluska. Motion carried by voice vote.
- Purchase of a CNC plasma cutter for the Fab Lab from ArcLight Dynamics using CT incentive and Carl Perkins grant funds (presented by Fab Lab Director Josh Zalewski): Motion by Ron Liberty; second by Mike Hornisher. Motion carried by voice vote.
- Donation of a 2024 Ski-Doo snowmobile and accessories to the Merrill School Forest from Friends of the Merrill School Forest, valued in the cover memo at $9,462.78: Motion by Mike Hornisher; second by Amber Aluska. Motion carried by voice vote.
- Donation of three animal mounts to the Merrill School Forest from Travis Matruva, valued at $6,950: Motion by Mike Hornisher; second by Nubs Ashlag. Motion carried by voice vote.
