Chamblee ' City events staff reviewed the city's 2025 events calendar and highlighted 2024 accomplishments, telling the City Council that events and programs generated approximately $442,000 in funds while costing about $339,000 to run.
"From all of those events and programs, funds that were raised were over $442,000. All in all, it took about 339000 dollars to actually execute these events and programs and 26% of that went back to Chamblee Business," the events presenter said.
Staff recapped 2024 attendance figures and programming: an estimated 5,000 for the first summer concert, about 6,000 for the Fourth of July fireworks, roughly 3,000 for another concert, and a combined summer-concert attendance of about 14,000 in downtown Chamblee. The Taste of Chamblee event drew an estimated 6,000 attendees and listed more than 80 vendors. The presenter said the city awarded over $88,000 in grants to nonprofit partners; the nonprofit partnership program currently lists about 45 to 50 active nonprofits and about 30 affiliates.
For 2025, staff announced the city would partner again with the Lunar New Year Festival on March 29-30, host a Juneteenth celebration on Friday, June 13, stage the summer concert series in July and August and partner with the Atlanta International Night Market in June. Staff also said the third-spot watch parties would center on college football games this year.
Council members praised staff for the previous year's execution and encouraged continued outreach to local businesses. Staff said it will release an annual report after the meeting with additional calendar and budget details.
No council vote was required for the events report; planning and budget follow-up will be handled by staff and appropriate departments.
