Okanogan County commissioners approved a supplemental appropriation of $16,000 for the clerk’s office to purchase document scanners, the board recorded during its Feb. 26 meeting.
The clerk’s office told commissioners the award is a reimbursement grant from the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC). The procurement plan is to order the scanners in two batches: nine scanners first for the clerk’s office, submit receipts to AOC for reimbursement once paid, then order seven scanners for district court. Staff estimated the procurement and reimbursement cycle could complete in about a month.
Staff said the grant also opens opportunities for training that will include the clerk’s office, district court, superior court, the prosecutor’s office and public defense; training is expected to be provided at no cost to the county and may include procedural-justice materials and other processes. A commissioner moved and a second supported Resolution 20‑220‑25 (as referenced in the meeting) authorizing the $16,000 appropriation; the motion passed by voice vote.
County staff said they had already begun procurement planning and would submit the required A‑19 form for reimbursement upon purchase.
