County to add $8,000 to Natural Systems Design amendment for LWOP channel integration work and outreach

Clallam County staff told commissioners Feb. 18 they will sign an amendment to the Natural Systems Design contract for the LWOP channel integration project that adds $8,000 to task budgets for modeling and stakeholder outreach.
Staff said Ecology (the Washington State Department of Ecology) reviewed the contract and requested a detailed cost breakdown rather than a fixed fee, prompting the amendment. The $8,000 addition will be allocated to task 2 (modeling) and task 3 (stakeholder outreach), staff said, and Ecology supports the change.
Staff also reported ongoing outreach work: a project website is published, a landowner meeting was held, meetings with Olympic National Park and the Makah Tribe (transcript references "Moore Olloa Tribe"—staff clarified they have met with tribal representatives) occurred and additional public meetings are scheduled. Commissioners expressed support for added stakeholder outreach.
Staff said consultants and staff will return to brief commissioners before the project's June completion date and that signatures on the amendment will be placed next Tuesday.
