Kittitas County holds public hearing on FISH pantry expansion; staff reports renovation nearly complete

Kittitas County held a public hearing to review the final project performance of a pantry expansion run by Friends in Service to Humanity (FISH), and county staff reported the warehouse renovation is effectively complete.
County Auditor Ryan Elliott opened the hearing and said the public review is required under interlocal agreements between the Department of Commerce, Kittitas County and DISH. Jay Weymayer, identified as FISH’s director of grocery operations, said the organization has moved into the new warehouse space and that interior construction is about 95% finished. Weymayer said commercial refrigeration equipment — a freezer and a refrigerated unit described as approximately 20 by 40 by 12 feet — was due within about two weeks, and installation of that equipment and a final door would complete the warehouse portion. Staff said pantry renovation will follow.
The board invited public comment; none was offered. Commissioners and staff noted the hearing fulfilled a contractual requirement and acknowledged FISH staff for the project work. No formal motion approving or denying the project was recorded in the transcript of the hearing.
