The Planning and Zoning Commission on March 3 voted 8-0 to table a request to amend Planned Development (PD-65) development standards for open space and signage at the northeast corner of Legacy Drive and Communications Parkway. The petition, filed by Legacy West Investors, was set for legislative consideration and had previously been tabled on Jan. 21 and Feb. 17.
Destiny Woods, planner with the planning department, said the applicant requested the continuation to March 25 so it can refine a related fire-code variance. "It's still under review with our fire department, but staff does believe that it should be ready by the requested meeting date," Woods said. Commissioners discussed the use of tabling and whether applicants should be prepared at first appearance. Commissioner Brunoff urged applicants to be ready at initial hearings where possible; Commissioner Brodsky noted the commission may use indefinite tabling if necessary and explained the re-noticing implications.
Commissioner Lingenfelter moved to grant the applicant's request to table the case to March 25; Commissioner Brynoff seconded. The motion passed 8 to 0.
The item is recorded as zoning case 2024-026 on the agenda; the transcript records the subject parcel in the Dallas North Tollway overlay district. Staff recommended tabling to allow the applicant time to coordinate the fire-code variance with the fire department.
