Public raises concerns about Policy 32‑30 confidential health-information section; board had previously tabled policy

A community member urged the board to remove the confidential health-information portion of board Policy 32‑30, saying the provision duplicates or may conflict with state law and reduces parental access to health information.

Andrew Wilford, identified in the record as a community member, said he had received signed paper submissions from community members and that the part of Policy 32‑30 people “really don't like is the confidential health info section.” Wilford argued the district should remove that section and instead state it will follow state law so the policy does not need repeated updates as state law changes.

Separately, Marilyn Aaron, who spoke during public comment, referenced state law and the superintendent's duties under RCW 28A.430, subsection 3, which requires the superintendent to keep detailed accounts of receipts and expenditures and to make district records available for public inspection. Aaron also asked the board for clarity about discrepancies she said exist between Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) enrollment figures and figures reported by the district.

During the consent-agenda discussion the board president clarified that the policy Wilford referenced had been removed from the agenda and “was tabled for now.” The transcript does not show a formal board vote to adopt or reject changes to Policy 32‑30 at this meeting.

Wilford additionally criticized the board for not asking questions during prior policy presentations and urged board members to scrutinize the upcoming budget line by line.
