The Calcasieu Parish Planning and Zoning Board on Feb. 18 approved a variance allowing an accessory building to be placed within the required setback at 5450 Carlisle Drive in the Corliss area.
Planning staff recommended approval, saying the development is consistent with the character of the area and listing conditions including adherence to the site plan on file with the Division of Planning and Development, compliance with Calcasieu Parish building code, required permits before placement, and installation of a guttering system to keep runoff on the applicant's property. Miss Dunn, planning staff, presented the recommendation and conditions to the board.
An individual at the podium noted, "There's a slab already there," and the discussion confirmed the accessory structure was planned for an existing slab that does not meet the setback requirement. No opposition registered for the item.
The board took a voice vote. Chair Julia Dickerson announced the motion passed and the variance was approved. No formal roll-call tally for the motion was given in the record.
The approval is conditioned on the applicant following the site plan on file and obtaining all required permits; the director or designee may authorize technical adjustments to the site plan during development.
The board will forward the zoning case to the police jury as required by procedure for final zoning actions.
