Oconee County PRT Commission elects Alex Burwell chair, Riley Johnson vice chair

At its Feb. 27 meeting, the Oconee County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Commission elected Alex Burwell as chair and Riley Johnson as vice chair.
Nominations were opened by staff; a commissioner nominated Alex Burwell for chair and the nomination was seconded. Burwell accepted the nomination, saying, "I'm I'm okay with that, yes." The commission recorded the vote as unanimous. The commission then opened nominations for vice chair; Riley Johnson was nominated, accepted and the commission voted unanimously to elect him.
The staff member explained the chair’s and vice chair’s roles: presiding over meetings, keeping meeting flow, and serving alongside staff if the commission later presents before county council. Commissioners were reminded the commission traditionally elects officers on a biennial basis but proceeded early because of member turnover.
Ending The commission congratulated the newly elected officers and proceeded with the rest of the agenda.
