Beaufort County school panel shifts to proactive legislative outreach, urges member community engagement

The Beaufort County Board of Education legislative committee on Feb. 26 said it will move from a reactive posture on education policy to proactive monitoring of pre-filed legislation and local development trends that affect school capacity, and asked members to gather community contacts and review the 2024 South Carolina legislative manual ahead of the committee's next meeting.

Committee Chair Colonel Guy, chair of the Beaufort County Board of Education legislative committee, said the group will “be at the front of the conversation to identify those conversations,” and urged members to attend city and county meetings, civic clubs and other community gatherings so the district can anticipate growth and planned development that affect school siting and capacity.
