Wayne County approves 18‑month insurance amendment for three movable bridges

Michael Cadel, county director of risk management, told commissioners the amendment moves the bridge policy back to a July 1 start date so renewals align with other county insurance policies. He said coverage was bound Jan. 3 and that the carrier experienced invoicing delays — invoices were received Feb. 5 — but there is no gap in coverage.
Cadel said the county realized approximately 16% in premium savings from the prior year; he attributed the change to favorable market conditions and strong communications between the county and its broker, Alliant Insurance Services. Commissioners asked whether the bridges in their districts remained covered; Cadel confirmed coverage remained in force.
Commissioners approved the amendment by tablet vote.
