Planning commission notice accepted; board authorizes RFQ for Master Plan 2025

The Delta County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 18 authorized an RFQ (request for qualifications) for Master Plan 2025 and accepted the Planning Commission’s notice of intent to begin the master-plan update.
The Planning Commission told the board it will make an online comment portal available under the county master-plan web page and that public comments submitted there will go directly to the Planning Commission subcommittee. Commissioners approved issuing an RFQ to solicit planning consultants and also approved the Planning Commission’s notice of intent; staff said the RFQ/notice process is the first step in a multi-stage master-plan review that will include public outreach and surveys.
Commissioners noted the RFQ language in the packet was inconsistently labeled RFQ/RFP and clarified that the county intends to issue an RFQ for qualifications. The Planning Commission said consultants can include targeted survey items that would let the county gather public input on specific projects, including park projects such as O.B. Fuller Park.
The board’s vote to issue the RFQ and accept the notice of intent was recorded in the meeting minutes and carried by voice vote.
