Gainesville council OKs purchase of replacement ladder truck and lease amendment for Mansfield Oil

City Manager Bridal Lackey told the council the ladder truck needs repair and that staff had identified an available vehicle they did not want to lose to another department. "We found a good deal on one out there and we didn't wanna risk losing that truck to some other fire department," Bridal Lackey said. Chief Ellis had briefed the council earlier about the truck's condition. The council approved the related business resolution (BR2025-09) by voice vote.
Separately, City Attorney Abbot Hayes summarized a lease amendment for Mansfield Oil of Gainesville Inc., which has rented hangar space from the city since 1981. Hayes said the amendment would add two tenure options allowing Mansfield Oil additional extension rights and would confirm the lease in the company's name. The council approved the amendment (BR2025-10) by voice vote.
On the consent agenda, the council approved minutes for the Jan. 30 work session and the Feb. 4 mayor and council meeting. All recorded motions passed unanimously; no roll-call tallies were provided in the meeting transcript.
There were no public commenters who addressed the council at this meeting, and the agenda did not include an executive session. The mayor adjourned the meeting after the votes.
