Ironton council approves contractor-services agreement with area community action organization

Ironton — The Ironton City Council passed a resolution authorizing a contractor-services agreement with the Ironton-Lawrence County Area Community Action Organization (CAO), a measure council members said had a favorable recommendation from the finance committee.

The clerk read the resolution authorizing approval of the contractor services agreement with the Ironton-Lawrence County Area Community Action Organization, Inc. During discussion a council member said they did not have updated figures at the meeting but noted that the city’s grant-writer salary for the position covered by the agreement has not changed from $35,000 in the 11 years the member has served on the council. The same council member said the city’s grant-writing function has historically helped bring substantial project and grant funding to the area, and offered to obtain specific numbers from Ralph, who the member identified as the person who could provide detailed grant totals.
