The Georgia State Senate Veterans, Military and Homeland Security Committee voted unanimously to adopt Senate Resolution 245, a commendation recognizing Doug Collins on his confirmation as United States secretary of Veterans Affairs.
The resolution, presented by the chamber’s majority leader and identified in committee paperwork as LC 1122033036, noted Collins’s service as a U.S. congressman and his military service. “All of you that know him know he's a a true patriot,” the majority leader said while introducing the measure.
Committee members spoke briefly in support. One member noted Collins would provide a direct line to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and called him “a great resource and an ally” for state lawmakers. The committee took the vote by a show of hands; the chair recorded the measure as passed unanimously.
The resolution will be reported out of committee and go forward in the Senate’s process per the committee chair.
