The Senate Committee on Labor and Business on Feb. 27 adopted the -2 amendment to Senate Bill 797 and voted to advance the measure to the Oregon Senate floor with a due-pass recommendation.
Senate Bill 797, brought to the committee by the Oregon Board of Accountancy, modifies Oregon statutes that regulate the licensing of certified public accountants and public accountants and makes technical and conforming edits. Committee staff told members the dash-2 amendment tweaks the bill’s definition of “substantially equivalent,” and that the measure has no revenue impact and only a minimal fiscal effect.
At the work session, a committee member moved to adopt the dash-2 amendment dated Feb. 17, 2025. There were no objections and the amendment was adopted. A subsequent motion to move the bill to the floor with a due-pass recommendation also passed without objection. Senator Pham was named the bill carrier.
The committee record shows a previous public hearing on the bill was held Feb. 18. With the amendment adopted and the due-pass recommendation in place, the bill will proceed to the full Senate for consideration.
