Community Advisory Committee presents quarterly report; highlights transparency, pilot feedback and vacancies

The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) reported to the San Diego Community Power board on Feb. 27 about activities from October 2024 through January 2025, emphasizing advisory support for programs, training and regulatory monitoring.
Matthew Vasilakis, CAC chair, told the board the committee provides monthly updates to staff and quarterly reports to the board, advises on strategic direction and ensures equity is integrated into decision‑making. The CAC reviewed five organizational highlights, customer operations metrics, solar battery savings reenrollment data, a flex load strategy pilot and the agency’s strategic planning process; members recommended staff account for a changing federal regulatory environment.
The CAC voted to recommend an allocation of Pacific Gas and Electric GHG attributes from the Diablo Canyon nuclear facility, and members discussed transparency about the energy content customers receive while advocating energy affordability. The committee also formed an ad hoc subcommittee to draft its 2025 work plan and received trainings on ethics, the Ralph and Brown Acts (open meetings), and program overviews.
Vasilakis noted vacancies in CAC representation for Chula Vista (open since March 2024) and La Mesa (open since December), with additional upcoming vacancies reported for member agencies later in the fiscal year. He said the CAC will next meet on March 13 and will provide a full report later in the spring.
