Village board approves routine bids, domain change to .gov and $1,000 fire-department grant amendment

Fire department grant: The board approved a budget amendment to accept a $1,000 grant from the Kelman Foundation for a training apparatus the department had identified. The motion was decided by roll-call vote: Niles — yes; White — yes; Stigler — yes; Rogers — yes; Adams — yes; Buckholtz — yes. The amendment passed and the funds will be incorporated into the fire department’s budget for the specific training equipment described in the packet.
Domain change to .gov: Village staff told trustees the Wisconsin Elections Commission will require municipalities to use a .gov email domain for official election-related correspondence. Chris (village staff) said the village has purchased villageofWaukesha.gov and that the existing .com and other addresses will forward to the .gov address. The IT vendor will perform the transition at no charge, aside from a small increase in the domain vendor fee; staff said a federal/state subgrant may cover first-year costs. The board moved and approved the domain change by voice vote.
Administrative approvals: The board approved meeting minutes from Jan. 23 and the Feb. 20 workshop, authorized payment of accounts payable totaling $143,721.48, and adjourned. All motions were carried by voice vote unless a roll-call vote was required and recorded.

"The IT company will not charge us anything for that change," Chris said, noting forwarding will be set up so mail to the old domain will reach the .gov address.
