The Plan Commission approved site and related plan changes at 190 West Marquette Avenue to allow construction of a perimeter fence and to reconfigure parking for Oak Creek Wood Products.
Staff said the applicant previously obtained a conditional-use permit permitting outdoor storage and was required to screen that storage with a fence. The proposed fence will be a combination of 8-foot and 6-foot chain-link sections with privacy slats; the eight-foot portion runs along the north parcel line for roughly 200 feet before turning and transitioning to six feet. Because the fence footprint conflicted with existing parking, the applicant reconfigured the lot to provide 32 parking spaces, up from the 25 spaces required.
Pete Erickson, vice president of Oak Creek Wood Products, said the fence and slats will help screen and tidy the corner of the property and that the company will continue to maintain the fence. Commissioners commended the applicant for investing in property upkeep and noted the fence is a sizeable investment.
A motion to approve the site modifications with conditions that all code requirements and plan-unit development conditions remain in effect carried on roll call. The applicant will record required permits and proceed under the city’s code and the development’s existing plan conditions.
