Carrollton, Ga. — At the Feb. 27 meeting the county finance director, Alicia Searcy, presented the Jan. 31, 2025 financials showing continued revenue collections and mixed line-item performance across the general fund and SPLOST accounts.
Searcy reported general fund revenues of $60,568,694 and noted sales tax, which had lagged earlier in the year, recovered in the most recent month. Expenses stood at $47,000,001.77, or about 59% of budget compared with 55% the previous year. She said general fund cash is down approximately $7 million from last year but slightly higher than at the same point in 2023.
On SPLOST (2021), she reported $11,233,000 in expenditures for fiscal year 2025 to date, with major outlays including payments on the fire station ($416,612 in January), the Admin Building ($485,7202 in January), the Fifth Floor judicial center work ($518,549), and two fire trucks totaling $1,000,001.49. Searcy attributed lower parks revenue to winter weather and noted interest income was behind last year due to lower invested balances and slightly lower rates.
Alicia Searcy: "The general fund, revenue ended up at $60,568,694. We are seeing a good, steady collection of revenue. Our sales tax had been running a little behind last year. In this month, it actually caught up."
No formal action was taken on the financial report; it was presented for information as part of the meeting.
