City Mayor Scott Conger and Madison County Mayor AJ Massey presented a proclamation declaring Feb. 27, 2025, School Board Appreciation Day and thanked the Jackson-Madison County School Board for its service at the board's Feb. 27 meeting.
Conger praised cooperation among the city, county and school system in a recent school construction effort and said that collaboration avoided division. "It really was a three-part effort — city, county, and school system coming together," he said, adding that the partnership represented a constructive approach to negotiations.
The proclamation text read in part that school board members "represent a tremendous resource as local decision makers" and that they "deserve recognition and thanks for their countless hours of service to public education in Jackson and Madison County, Tennessee." The proclamation named Feb. 27, 2025, as School Board Appreciation Day.
The meeting also included staff and student recognition, presentation of a slideshow honoring board members, and distribution of appreciation gifts from the superintendent's office, including personalized baskets and backpacks.

The district encouraged board members and the public to view board member spotlights on district social channels and noted other recognition activities that took place during School Board Appreciation Week.
