School bulletin lists local scholarships, staff member points students to applications

Mister Nauterman, a school staff member, told students on the morning bulletin that a number of local and regional scholarships are available and that his scholarship page and office have application information.

The scholarship information “is constantly being updated,” Mister Nauterman said. He listed several scholarships by name and, in some cases, by amount: the Roseman Teachers Association scholarship with $5,000 available to be split among more than one student; Rosemond Health and Fitness offering $500 to two students; TerraGen offering two $1,000 scholarships for Roseman High School students; Antelope Valley College Foundation’s single application that can match students to many awards; Kern County Foundation scholarships (amount described in the bulletin as “over $10” in past awards, not specified); and an AV Medical Center volunteer scholarship.

Why it matters: Local scholarships reduce students’ need to carry debt and provide immediate, locally administered funding options. Mister Nauterman advised students to get applications in person if they want help applying.

Mister Nauterman said application forms are available in his office and encouraged students to see him for details. “If you guys want more information about the amounts or the applications or whatever, just come see me, and I'll hook you guys up,” he said.
