House Energy and Digital Infrastructure committee unanimously approves draft 1.6 of bill 25-0896

The House Energy and Digital Infrastructure Committee approved draft 1.6 of bill 25-0896 at a Feb. 28 meeting, voting 9-0 to send the measure to the House floor.

Representative Kathleen James, chair of the committee, said members were ready to vote after a short review. Legislative counsel Rick Segal told the committee he had emailed a clean copy of draft 1.6 to the chair and committee assistant and that the draft "should reflect the committee's desires, after a few changes to draft 1.5." Segal added the document was completed about four minutes before the meeting and that some language he reorganized was already in statute.

The clerk called the roll during the voice vote. The committee recorded the following votes: Representative Richard Bailey — Aye; Representative Scott Campbell — Aye; Representative Huddl — Aye; Representative Graham Kluttner — Yes; Representative Mora — Yep; Representative Sebelia — Yes; Representative Southwood — Aye; Representative Torrick — Yes; Representative Kathleen James — Yes. The committee tally was 9 yes, 0 no, 0 abstain. The bill recorder was Representative Scott Campbell.

Committee members were told the bill should appear on the notice calendar on Tuesday and that Representative Campbell will present it on the House floor on Wednesday. Members and legal staff discussed that procedural questions can arise on the floor; Segal and other counsel will be available to advise the floor presenter if needed. Representative James closed the meeting and adjourned the committee.
