School staff recommend McGraw Hill ELA for K–5, Ramsey personal finance for 9–12; 30-day objection window opens

Dr. Hanlon said the district had reviewed prior guidance from the state and NEFEC and learned that a state-adopted list of intervention materials will be produced; because of that, the district will not need a formal local adoption process for intervention materials and instead will purchase from the state-adopted list when it is released. Staff said they are awaiting the state's list and associated funding and will return with a purchase plan by the April 8 meeting.
Board members asked about teacher support and professional development tied to the proposed programs; Dr. Hanlon said the recommended vendors provide teacher support and professional development as part of the adoption package, and staff will share a timeline for purchase and training after an upcoming lead-team meeting.
The presentation packet ranked three top choices for each ELA category so the district can fall back to second- and third-choice vendors if a preferred vendor does not appear on the final state-adopted list.
The board did not take a final vote on instructional materials at this meeting. Staff reiterated the 30-day parental objection period would begin with this meeting and that final board action is scheduled for April 8.
