Roswell officials held a groundbreaking at East Roswell Park announcing $4,800,000 in voter-approved improvements that will nearly double the park’s dog area and add amenities for families and other users, city speakers said.
The announcement puts the East Roswell Park project into early construction phases after voter approval of funding. The park covers more than 40 acres and officials described the improvements as intended to serve roughly 40,000 residents on the city’s east side.
"What a great day to be in the city of Roswell. What a great day to be in East Roswell Park," Speaker 1, an unnamed city official, said at the ceremony. "Today's groundbreaking celebration marks the start of several exciting improvements to East Roswell Park. And thanks to the support of our Roswell voters, we are able to invest in this beautiful park, creating enhanced recreational opportunities for all of our visitors. This is an awesome park."
"I mean, I'll see. We're standing here where the dog park is gonna be basically done. It's currently about a half acre. When it's done, it's gonna be almost a full acre, about 9 tenths of 1 acre. We have, invested $4,800,000 just here in the East Roswell Park," Speaker 1 said, describing the size change and the funding level.
Speaker 2, an unnamed city official, said the improvements were a campaign priority: "This was certainly something that I was passionate about when I decided to run for office. Very, very committed to making sure that this side of 400 is enhanced in the city of Roswell. We're all 1 city. I feel like this 1 is, really beautiful being over 40 acres and having so many different amenities for so many different demographics."
Officials framed the work as reinvestment in the park to provide more recreation for families and dog owners on the east side of the city. The ceremony did not specify a construction schedule, a detailed list of new amenities beyond the dog park expansion, or a completion date.
Timeline and additional project details were not specified at the groundbreaking; officials said the work is funded by voter-approved measures.
