Union County approves used rescue truck purchase; also OKs routine road agreements and property sale

Union County commissioners voted to approve the purchase of a used rescue truck and carried several routine agenda items, including intergovernmental road-maintenance agreements and a resolution related to Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) 2025 maintenance proposals.

The commissioners approved buying a used rescue vehicle located in Virginia and accepted associated costs within the county’s allocated budget. County officials said the board had already allocated $25,000 for a rescue vehicle in the current fiscal year and may use up to that amount to complete this purchase; the purchase price discussed for the used vehicle was $10,000, with additional expected costs for repairs, decals and outfitting. Officials estimated injector repairs on the vehicle could run about $5,000 to $6,500 depending on bids.
