City managers and senior staff used the retreat to walk council through midterm progress on the citywide strategic plan, with highlights across the SAFE, healthy/socially thriving, livable, accessible and responsibly governed goal areas.
Assistant City Manager Mark Wolf and other staff described completed and ongoing items tied to council priorities. Examples cited by staff included Vision Zero capital improvements and a new text‑alert system for emergency notifications; automation so evacuation maps publish immediately after a 9‑1‑1 alert; a newly acquired streetlight system with LED conversion plans; a citywide asset‑management strategy and a new financial system that went live Jan. 6; and the Western City Campus customer‑service and project‑management center planning.
Staff emphasized cross‑departmental coordination on public‑safety, wildfire resilience, employee safety, projects and asset management. They said work continues to integrate equity considerations across programs, to advance housing and economic initiatives and to improve customer and digital accessibility through focused projects.
Why it matters: the strategic‑plan review is intended to show how multiple department work plans align with council priorities, indicate measurable program work and set the stage for outcome‑oriented budgeting and future prioritization.
What’s next: staff will continue to develop key performance measures and outcome metrics and to align program work with the long‑term financial strategy and upcoming budget decisions.
