Revitalization Trust Fund to run fundraising videos; profile of Needham native Ben Carlin nearing completion

The Revitalization Trust Fund told members Feb. 27 it will release two short videos this spring to raise awareness and solicit donations, and previewed a profile honoring Needham High School alumnus Ben Carlin.
Jessica (Revitalization Trust Fund committee member) said the fund will roll out two videos in the next two weeks: one to explain the fund’s purpose and accept donations and a second promoting sponsorship opportunities for projects. She also described the “Needham to the World” feature for Ben Carlin, a Needham High School graduate (Class of 1989) whose credits include head writer and producer roles at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and work helping to create The Colbert Report; he also worked on Modern Family and film projects.
Staff are working to secure high-quality photographs of Carlin, including contacting the Television Academy archives to identify images of Carlin with Emmys. Paul said an academy archivist, Janet Kim, is researching available images. Carlin is based in London and may not attend any local unveiling; his mother lives locally and might attend, staff said.
The committee also noted that image availability is limited for some honorees; staff try to source high-resolution images for display panels and online features. The fundraising videos are expected to begin distribution in March as the committee ramps up spring fundraising and sponsorship outreach.
