Revitalization Trust Fund confirms funding and orders three memorial benches

The Revitalization Trust Fund on Feb. 27 said three memorial benches have been paid for, approved by the Select Board and ordered, with installation and site work to follow.
The fund’s chair, Paul (Revitalization Trust Fund committee member), told members the Sodor Home bench (Avery Common), the Chief Tom Leary/Goodfellow bench (Amity Path) and the Aaron and Ron Sockle bench (Memorial Field) are funded and on order. “We don’t order anything unless it’s paid for,” Paul said.
The committee discussed installation details for the Amity Path bench, which will use an embed mount: two steel pieces driven into concrete footings flush with the ground. Paul said the bench selected matches existing units along the path but is a composite material because the wood version is no longer manufactured; the composite was chosen for color parity and durability.
Committee member Eric arranged a contractor contact who provided a low-cost estimate for the concrete work; Paul said the contractor will be paid but offered a favorable price because of an ongoing relationship. The fund plans to start groundwork after the benches arrive; Paul estimated delivery at about 10 weeks from the order date.
The meeting did not record a formal vote on the benches at this session because the funding and Select Board approvals were already complete; members treated the update as informational and logistical.
The committee said it will notify residents about installation timing once contractors schedule the work.
