Board approves personnel actions, Chromebook purchase and permission to film Tradition of Excellence

The Oak Park–River Forest SD 200 Board of Education met in a special session Thursday night and unanimously approved three action items: personnel recommendations (including resignations and leaves of absence), a purchase of incoming-student Chromebooks totaling $427,420, and a request to allow a documentary filmmaker to film the districtTradition of Excellence ceremony.

Motions and roll-call votes were recorded in the special meeting minutes. Board members present cast unanimous affirmative votes for each item. The board moved to approve the personnel recommendations first; the motion passed on roll call. The board then approved a purchase of Chromebooks for the 2025–26 incoming students in the amount of $427,420. Filmmaker Dan Popren, whose father is one of the ceremonyrecipients, described the project and said he hoped to film portions of the ceremony and to speak with a Nu Scene class; he told the board he would obtain parental permissions before using any student footage.
