Board approves consent agenda, supplemental budget and transfers; grants 15 nonresident and 15 release requests

The North Wasco County School District 21 board approved several routine and budget actions Thursday, including the consent agenda, a supplemental capital budget tied to a donation for a new football press box, a $5,000 transfer within the local grants fund and the district’s annual nonresident/resident transfer permissions.

The consent agenda — which the chair identified as including two work sessions, the last board meeting minutes, a personnel report and the second reading and adoption of board policies JECA and GCBDC — passed on a motion by Director Nelson, seconded by Director Richardson. The chair called for the vote and members answered "aye." The motion carried.

Chief Financial Officer Mr. Anderson presented a supplemental budget resolution to accept a contribution to the capital improvement fund to assist with a new press box. The board adopted Resolution 204-??-510 (supplemental budget) on a motion by Director Richardson, seconded by Director Nelson; the chair recorded "ayes have it." Later the board approved a $5,000 transfer of appropriations within the local grants fund (Resolution 204-??-511) on a motion by Director Richardson, seconded by Director Winn Elledge.

Superintendent Dr. Bernal presented the district recommendation on interdistrict transfers required by Policy JECB: the board granted consent for up to 15 nonresident students to enroll in North Wasco County SD 21 for the 2025–26 school year and also granted up to 15 resident students permission to be released to attend other Oregon districts for 2025–26. Director Nelson moved the motions and Director Lopez seconded; the board voted to approve both items.
